Safi A. Thomas is the Artistic Director of The Hip-Hop Dance Conservatory in NYC. This blog centers primarily on his thoughts on hip-hop dance and the need for pedagogy but also includes his philosophies on life as well. Feel free to reblog and share his words. Here is his story...
  • "The cabal of paleolithic ideologues in many universities continue to forfeit freedom of thought and sequester those who present a different mentality than the one they all agree on. This has been happening for centuries since the “enlightenment” and it is not going away. It is merely being inculcated into future generations under the guise of “higher education” and rapidly disintegrating the possibility of mutual discourse across all social classes. The professorship is full of “old boys” networks and traditionalists. They horde their individual knowledge and excoriate those who present findings that confute their own. Those who are open minded are shunned, and ostracized. They are denied funding, it is difficult for them to get published and they are often denied tenure."
